Xeomin is a prescription medication that, like Botox, contains botulinum toxin type A and is used to treat wrinkles and facial lines. One key difference is that Xeomin is a “naked” neurotoxin, meaning it doesn’t contain accessory proteins found in other similar products, which may reduce the likelihood of developing antibodies that could make the treatment less effective over time. It works particularly well for frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) and typically lasts about 3-4 months. Like other neurotoxins, Xeomin takes effect gradually, with results becoming visible within about a week after treatment.
