What is Direct Primary Care?

Endorsed by the American Academy of Family Practice, Direct Primary Care affords you enhanced access to your family practice care team for a flat monthly fee. You will have a direct relationship with your physician and direct contact through office visits, email, telephone, and virtual technologies.

What is Evolve Healthcare?

Evolve Healthcare is a collaborative healthcare organization that is bringing together like-minded providers seeking to create a space where patients and physicians can partner in meeting the patient’s overall health goals. The physicians at Evolve Healthcare utilize both the guiding principles of Western medicine and holistic methods to find the best treatment plan for you. The main purpose will be to assist patients in achieving their wellness goals outside the confines of insurance interference.  

Is concierge medicine the same as Direct Primary Care?

The terms are often used interchangeably and essentially refer to the same principles. Direct Primary Care is a healthcare model focused on putting the patient first. Direct Primary Care is a model that allows for greater a partnership between patient and provider through longer appointment times, no interference from insurance companies on care planning and greater patient/provider connection as patients have more comprehensive access to their providers.  This more comprehensive access is often reported to increase patient satisfaction, better health outcomes and reduce cost of overall healthcare.

What sets Evolve Healthcare apart from other practices?

There are other direct primary care practices in the Wichita and surrounding areas; however, Evolve Health plans to revolutionize this type of practice by creating a team of likeminded providers who are partnering with their patients to customize care plans using methods that align with a patient’s goals and desires for their overall health and lifestyle.  Every patient is unique and so are their treatment preferences.  Evolve Healthcare wants to honor a patient’s desired treatment ideals and partner with them to help them reach their definition of optimal wellbeing.

Does Evolve Healthcare accept health insurance?

Evolve Healthcare does not accept health insurance.  The providers at Evolve Healthcare provide a model of healthcare that is direct and based on a personal relationship between you and your provider.  The providers at Evolve Healthcare do not believe any insurer should have a voice about the quality or the cost of a family’s care. We do not accept insurance payments in order to avoid the often-intrusive decisions made by payors that often do not align with the wishes of the patient or the provider.

As a patient of Evolve Healthcare, will I still need health insurance?

Yes. Plans that work best with Direct Primary Care include catastrophic plans or high deductible plans with a health savings account to ensure financial help should hospitalization be necessary.  You may want to review your insurance plan options during open enrollment periods to see if you can lower your costs with one of the aforementioned plans.

Is my membership to Evolve Healthcare tax deductible?

Unfortunately, no. Your retainer is not yet defined as a “medical expense” in most states and as such is not deductible. Please confer with your tax consultant to clarify tax consequences in your particular circumstances.

What happens if I need to go to the hospital or see a specialist?

In providing comprehensive care with unlimited access, we seek to prevent or reduce hospitalizations and specialty referrals. In instances where those types of referrals are required, we will work with your hospitalist during your hospital stay or work closely with any specialist during their management of your condition. 

Can children become members of Evolve Healthcare?

Yes. We are happy to accept the children (birth to 18 years of age) of our enrolled clients. At this time, we are not able to provide routine vaccinations for young children, but we will happily work with you to arrange these.

Can I contact my physician after hours? And how?

By all means, yes! Because illness and injury do not respect regular office hours, you may call your physicians any day, at any hour. If you prefer, you may also use our secure patient portal to access your medical record and then e-mail your physician. 

What if I need medical attention while I’m away from home?

We are there for you even when you are away – yet another freedom we enjoy together as a result of Evolve Healthcare’s independence from the restrictions of third-party payment. Because we know you well, we can streamline your care when you’re sick and away from home.  Many illnesses can be diagnosed and treated with a simple conversation by phone, email, text or webcam. We’ll locate the nearest pharmacy and order the medications most appropriate for your circumstances.
